As the battalion commander of the 1st battalion,I am in charge of everything this battalion does or fails to do. To elaborate,I always set the example in appearance, attitude, conduct, bearing, tact,discipline, and performance. I am very proud of this battalion and each andevery cadet who has chosen to dedicate themselves to this program. I am hopingto have a lot of cadet participation this school year and a lot of motivationin the events happening throughout the year. Parents, I hope you get involvedwith your cadet's lives and learn a little more about what this whole programis about. I assure you both for the cadets and parents that I will strive anddo all I can in my power to help these cadets grow and improve into becomingbetter citizens.

I'min charge of supervising all Non-Commissioned officers (NCOs) within thebattalion, and the principle enlisted assistant to the Battalion Commander. Iassist subordinates NCOs, the battalion XO, and the adjutant withadministrative duties/details. Other duties include supervising the colorguard and all flag details. I must ensure flag details are properly trained,battalion drill area is maintained in a high state of police and JROTCclassrooms and offices are kept neat and orderly.

Marco Montes

As the Executive Officer I am responsible forcoordinating and supervising the cadet staff ensuring that they completetheir assignments and operations critical to the stability of the battalion. Iam also responsible for the command of the battalion in absence of theBattalion commander. This year for San Diego High School, I am ready to makethis battalion more efficient and prepared for the future and help them grow asboth well-rounded students and cadets. From the looks of our numbers andincoming freshmen, I am confident that they will become deeply involved in thisprogram and help insure the future of this battalion keeps alive for many yearsto come.

Mariela Osuna

I am in charge of keeping Cadet Records currentin the JROTC Unit Management Systems (JUMS). For instance, I input merits anddemerits and cadet participation information for every event they participatein. I print promotion orders and announce them when cadets are promoted. I alsocreate certificates awarded to cadets that show the number of community servicehours earned and the charity they supported. I look forward to processingdocuments for all cadets attending our upcoming promotion tests andcertificates for community service events. I wish all cadets a wonderful schoolyear.

Whitney Ransome

My job is to make sure everything is locked up andsecured for the school year of 2014-2015. Here are some little thingsabout me, I am a senior in the school of Science and Technology in the careerpath CCR (College and Career, Ready) and I competed 4 competitions my two andhalf years I've been in the program. I've been on Platoon, Archery, and 10person unarmed drill team twice.

As the battalion S-3 or Training and OperationsOfficer, I am in charge of scheduling the after school practices as well as thepaperwork for most of the Battalion. I have to keep up with the practices, makerisk assessments for any event going on in the battalion, and coordinate withthe instructors or Cadre. I work side by side with the First Sergeant and makesure everything is in order and ready to go for the Battalion. I am one of themost vigorous and hard-working cadets in the Battalion to ensure that the restof the cadets can be successful in every aspect or ROTC and school.

Myposition requires working alongside First Sergeant Mayorga. I'm responsible forkeeping the maintenance, security, record keeping, issued and returned of allU.S. government property, and uniforms. I measure all cadets for their uniformand prepare input into JUMS. I also issue out all awards and decorationsduring ceremonies.

Needinformation within the Battalion? Any upcoming events you're not sureabout? Do you need to know who, what, when, where, why, how? Well, I'm the onefor the job! I'm cadet 1st Lieutenant Ornelas and I take care of allinformation dealing inside the SDHS Caver Battalion. I do Operation Plans forevents so that the S-3 can make them into Operations Orders. I alsomake announcements for class periods so they can be read to eachclass period, so they know what's going on within the Battalion.

BattalionPhotographer? Newspaper Editor? Public Relations? Young drill sergeant? This isme! The battalion public affairs officer. I am Cadet 1st Lt Conleyand I maintain relations outside of the 1st Battalion and i also take picturesfor the battalion. I write and publish the battalion newsletter every quarterand I am the platoon leader of 2nd period AJROTC.

This year's CIP mission is to improve academic achievement within the battalion. Need help with homework? Come after school to the Arms Room and I'll be there to assist you. If I'm not proficient with thesubject that you need help in I will find someone who is so you can get thebest help possible. Remember that you have to have a 2.0 GPA or higherand no F's in order to participate in any teams for JROTC. My goal is to ensurethat anyone who wants to participate, can. So if you need any academic helpjust drop on by and ask for CIPO.
